God's Plans vs. Our Plans

Passage: Romans 15:22-29

Preacher: John Repsold

Series: Romans

Keywords: god's will, decisions, priorities, choices, meaning, living well, circumstances, wasting life

Summary:

It seems difficult at times to discern what is God's plan and what is ours, whether the opposition we're receiving to our plans is the Enemy trying to keep us from God's best or God trying to redirect our path. This passage gives us some guidance on how to discern the difference, choose that which will lead to a life that counts and not waste the one, precious life God has given us.

God’s Plans vs. Our Plans

Romans 15:22-29

INTRO:  You’ve probably heard the old statement that, to the best of my knowledge is attributed to Woody Allen: “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”  That’s probably a take-off from the Yiddish proverb that says, “Man plans, God laughs.”

But life demands plans.  The problem with making plans isn’t that plans are made; it’s that the plans we make can often be either way too insignificant and inconsequential compared to the ones God would cheer us on to make OR our plans are flat out the wrong plans.  That’s probably when God shakes his head or just chuckles.
