Having A Truly Holy Holy Week?

Posted by John Repsold on

Holy simply means “set apart” for God’s use.  So what are we doing to make this a “set-apart” week?  Let me invite you to do a few things personally and together with God’s people.

1.) “Set apart” 15 minutes or more each day this week to engage in something that connects you with God that you usually don’t do.  If you normally have a time with God every day reading his Word but don’t usually journal, try journaling for 15 minutes.  If you don’t usually read God’s Word daily or pray, take just 15 minutes out of your day to do one or both of those things.  Holy Week is meant to help us enter into the love and sacrifice of Christ.  So “sacrifice” something you normally do (like watching TV, surfing the internet, playing video games, etc.) and use at least 15 minutes of that recovered time to talk a walk with God in some way.  Read about how Jesus spent this week before His death in one of the Gospels (Matthew 21-27; Mark 11-14; Luke 19-23 and John John 12-19).  Then spend some “set apart” time with God so this really is a Holy Week.

2.) “Set apart” some friendships by inviting them to join us Easter Weekend.

That starts with Saturday night.  The Changing Lives service at 5:00 p.m. this week will be our “Good Saturday” service of Easter weekend.  Corbin, one of our Moody students, will be sharing the Word.  That service will be followed by a shared meal, a true “breaking of bread,” as we both fellowship like the disciples of old around the table but also remember the death of Jesus with Communion.  And if you’ve never been part of Changing Lives small groups, you might want to stick around for that part of the evening from 7-8p.m.

Then Easter Sunday morning remember that we are going to two identical services at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m.  Studies indicate that a huge majority of people who don’t normally go to church would go if a friend just took the time to invite them. And Easter is the perfect time.  So make your friendships “holy” by setting them apart for a personal invitation to join us all on Sunday.  We’ll be worshiping through music, video, fellowship, prayer, love for one another and learning from God’s Word as we walk with Jesus on the road of resurrection life.  Invite your family and friends to become part of our Mosaic family this weekend!

And if you would like to spend even more time with some of your brothers and sisters on Easter afternoon enjoying some amazing finger food and fellowship, the Moody’s are inviting us to their house in Medical Lake from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  Just let Menesia at Mosaic know you’ll be coming (email her at ) so we can get you the directions, rides and food for all.  .

3.) “Set apart” a time of talking and listening to God through prayer and worship either TONIGHT, Tuesday, April 11th at Mosaic from 7:00-8:00 p.m. for worship and prayer, WEDNESDAY at Mosaic from 7:00-8:00 p.m. for worship through prayer or THURSDAY from 6:30-7:30 a.m. for early morning prayer.  Nothing makes life holier than meeting directly with our Father!

Enjoying a truly “set apart” Holy Week,

Pastor John
