Pastor's Weekly Update

Mosaic Advent Celebrations

Posted by John Repsold on

While the weather outside may be frightful, the time with God and His people will be delightful!  Go ahead.  Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow!

As we move into this final week of Advent, I just wanted to remind you of some very SPECIAL God and people-experience opportunities we will be sharing in the coming days.

THIS SUNDAY:  Ever felt like God has forgotten about you or something really important to you?  Then you need to meet a couple more senior saints that Luke 1 tells us about.  Their lives intersect with us in so many ways that you're sure to hear God whisper something special to you this Sunday if you join the festivities.
And plan to stick around for lunch as we enjoy our December Fellowship lunch (pot roast, salad, rolls, pie and ice cream) at 11:30 after the second service.  This month, our time will include some very fun music with Mosaic's first Christmas Jazz combo.  You won't want to miss this one.

CHRISTMAS EVE:  Taking place again on December 24th (surprise, surprise) at 4:00 p.m., we will be having one fantastic time of worshipping the child-King, Jesus.  Christmas Eve service is always one of my favorite events of the year, largely because of the special music and quietly beautiful hour we share.  This Christmas, why not invite your friends and family to join you in celebrating THE greatest birthday in human history?  (Invitations are available at Mosaic.)

CHRISTMAS SUNDAY: Yes, Christmas is on a Sunday, December 25th, this year.  Like so many saints through the ages, we will be having a Christmas morning service, but just one at 10:00 a.m. next Sunday.   Pastor Andrew will be teaching on the Magi and we'll all squeeze together for a warm and wonderful time of rejoicing in Jesus' birth.  May our worship of our Savior-King match or surpass that of the Magi!

NEW YEAR'S EVE 24-HOUR PRAYER:   Last year, our own Cathy Rogers sponsored a 24-hour prayer vigil (noon New Year's Eve to noon New Year's Day) at The Gathering House (733 W. Garland Ave.).  This year, Spokane Prays is joining forces and together we're inviting any follower of Jesus to join in prayer (and fasting, if you're able) to usher in the new year spiritually in Spokane.  You're welcome to come and go or stay for all 24 hours during this time of seeking God with Christ-followers from all over Spokane.

NEW YEAR'S DAY WORSHIP:  While we know many of you may have a late night (or prayer-filled...see above) New Year's Eve, we'll still be celebrating our great God with 2 services on Sunday, January 1, 2023.  But there will be a slight change of time for our second service.  Since we've been having difficulty emptying the parking lot in time for the 2nd service attendees, we've decided to slide the 2nd service start time 15-minutes later to 10:15 a.m.  That will allow us more fellowship time between the services, more flexibility with the services and better logistics with parking.  So if you normally attend the 2nd service, either sleep an extra 15 minutes starting New Year's Day...or just show up your regular time and enjoy more food and fellowship before the service.

Praying for fresh encounters with God Incarnate this Christmas,

Pastor John
