Philippians 1:12-20.

Detail:

                                Joy in Suffering

Welcome to church everybody

This morning we’ll be starting in Philippians 1:12 and reading through verse 20.

First let’s invite our Lord to join us bow with me Pray…………

James 1:2 says, count it all joy my brothers when you meet trails of various kinds,

Short testimony

From beatings to imprisonment, Paul to this point had gone through a lot of suffering for Christ sake. And these trails had taught Paul to be content in all circumstances. I find his letter to the Philippians is testimony to this attitude. Even thought he was in prison, facing an uncertain future. Paul wrote this thank you letter to the Philippians, a letter that expressed his over flowing joy in what God was accomplishing through them.

Trials I’ve experienced………………………………

Now to the text……Lets read, starting in verse 12 ending in verse 19

Verse 12-13 what was happening in prison

Examples……….. we may relate too.

Verse 14 without fear

Example……….Collins apartments

Verse 15-18…….. Jealousy of some preaching/goodwill

Examples…………when sharing the Gospel have we experienced envy, rivalry or strife, but others from good will. When have we??????

Examples………..bring division, sometimes even separation from the body. Gained strength and confidence as we come together sharing the truth of God’s word defense of the Gospel, Christ proclaimed.

Verse 19……………trusting in Christ

Examples………..not matter how hard it gets……………….

So I must ask, WHAT!!! Will it take as the Philippians to consecrate our lives to Christ? We too face all kinds of trials. Every soul here today is one traumatic experience way………………………………………... We all know someone who has died of a std, contracted cancer, heart attack, lost a loved one at a very young age, etc. etc……………………………………

Acts 16 25-30………..I know John used this same passage last week, but I come today with a different perspective. Gods use’s many things to catch our attention.

I’ll close with this.

Pray with me. Who’s Father, Our Father who art in Heaven………………..
